Pinewood Rescheduled- Other Notes


We have rescheduled the Pinewood Derby for Sunday, Feb 7 at the American Legion at 2 PM. This will give your son has time to work on the cars and make sure they are fantastic. We will still need volunteers to help with all of things we talked about before: pit crew, registration, line judges, concessions, set up/decorations. If you can help with any of those things please let me know. Den leaders, please contact your cub parents to make sure they know about the date change. Thanks (See earlier post for complete rules)


FUNDRAISER FOR SCOUTS GOING TO NATIONAL JAMBOREE

Troop 479 in China his holding a spaghetti supper on Friday, January 29 from 5:00 to 6 PM at the Masonic Hall on Main Street in China Village. The proceeds will go toward expenses for the boys attending the National Jamboree at Ft. AP Hill in Virginia next summer. The tickets are $5 per person and will include spaghetti, salad, roll, drink and dessert. There will be donated items for a silent auction as well. Please join us for fellowship and to help support these young men. To help with planning to everyone we are attempting to pre-sell the tickets. NATIONAL TO INSTITUTE MANDATORY TRAINING!!!!

All Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, and Venture Advisors must be trained for their position (Fast start/This is Scouting and leader specific) by the end fo 2010!

All other leaders with direct contact with youth (Ex. Den Leaders, ASM’s, Ast. Advisors) must be fully trained (Fast Start/This is Scouting and leader specific) by 2011!

Don't wait. If you're not training in your position take advantage of one or more of the following opportunities:

TRAINING IN KENNEBEC VALLEY DISTRICT

Kennebec Valley District will next offer leader training on February 13, 2010. Location: LDS Church in Farmingdale.Cub Scout Leader and Boy Scout Leader specific training will be offered.Please preregister through the council office. A flyer is available for download from the district website newsletter page. PRe-registration will determine which trainings are offered and which ones are cancelled. Our volunteer trainers will show-up if they know they have people needing to be trained. Please preregister.

TRAINING IN DOWNEAST DISTRICT

Downeast District has announced a Save-the-Date. They will next offer leader training on February 7, 2010. Remember, you do not need to be trained in your own district!


Outdoor Training
BALOO, WLOT (Webelos Leader Outdoor Training) and ITOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills) will be offered at the Abnaki District Spring Camporee at Camp Gustin in Sabatus on May 21-23, 2010.


BOSTON MUSEUM OF SCIENCE CUB SCOUT TRIP
